Hemlock Wooly Adelgid

Certified Arborists in New England, like All Season Tree Service owner Kevin Shrader, are on the lookout for signs of the insidious Hemlock Wooly Adelgid. This small, aphid-like insect is a major pest that threatens the health of eastern hemlock and Carolina hemlock in the eastern United States.

The hemlock wooly Adelgid can be found on the underside of hemlock branches. It looks like a cottony mass between the needle and the stem of the branch. If you see something that looks like this on your hemlock, please contact All Season Tree Service at 802-722-3008 or contact your county forester.

Treatment of the hemlock wooly Adelgid includes foliar sprays using horticultural oils or insecticidal soaps. Also recommended are systemic insecticides. These treatments are available now from All Seasons Tree Service. Please contact us for a free estimate.
